Our Principles
The Index Club started with a simple frustration: too much of agency SEO is designed around the economics of the agency rather than the needs of the client.
The pitch is senior. The strategy gets diluted. The retainer fills with recurring tasks. Reporting becomes a substitute for progress. Good people get stretched across too many accounts.
We wanted to design the model in the other direction—a deliberately capped membership built around direct senior access and genuine commercial focus.
Members should have access to the person doing the thinking, not just the person presenting it.
"SEO" is not the objective. Growth, demand, revenue, market share, customer acquisition, efficiency, brand discovery and defensibility are the objectives. Search is one of the ways we solve them.
A long deliverable list can hide weak prioritisation. We would rather identify the handful of changes most likely to matter and make sure they happen. Read our thesis on fewer deliverables, more leverage.
Google remains critical, but discovery is fragmenting across AI systems, social search, marketplaces, maps and other interfaces. We build for the underlying behaviour, not a single results page.
AEO. GEO. LLMO. Whatever the acronym becomes next. We will use new techniques when evidence supports them. We will not rename established principles to make ordinary work sound revolutionary. See The AI SEO Bullshit Filter.
Technical audits should help teams make decisions. Hundreds of low-priority warnings do not become valuable because they are exported into a spreadsheet. See how we approach technical risk management.
We do not believe in publishing pages simply because a keyword tool produced a row. Useful content should answer real questions, earn attention and contribute to a broader commercial strategy.
Links still matter. So do mentions, reputation, brand demand, expertise and the broader evidence that a business is worth trusting. We prefer work that builds real authority over artificial metrics. Learn why you must be retrievable before being cited.
If we think you should not spend money on something, we will tell you. If an SEO recommendation creates a worse business outcome, it is probably a bad recommendation. Read our boardroom questions for search.
Scarcity only matters if it protects something real. Our limit exists to protect access, attention and quality. When membership is full, we pause applications.
